Water quality monitoring
SWCM have extensive experience in water quality monitoring for both point and diffuse sources using a range of approaches. Over the past 25 years we have devised monitoring programmes for a wide range of substances including nutrients, suspended sediment, and pesticides. We also regularly undertake readings of parameters such as water temperature and dissolved oxygen in ponds and lakes.

We are able devise appropriate seasonal sampling strategies. We can also advise on detailed, intensive sampling/monitoring to establish variations in concentrations of substances such as nutrients and suspended sediment during intense rainfall and storm events.

We can undertake:
  • Development of sampling strategy, selection of parameters, locations and methods
  • Water sampling & laboratory analysis for chemistry and nutrients
  • In-situ readings using multiparameter water quality sondes
  • Field deployment of logging multiparameter sondes
  • Reconnaissance water sampling and nutrient test strips
  • Pond and lake dissolved oxygen and temperature
